Professor Rosemary Nkemdilim Ogu joined the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) in 2000 as a house officer. Since then, she has served MWAN in various capacities as highlighted below:

  • Publicity Secretary, MWAN Rivers State Branch 2005 - 2007
  • Publicity Secretary, MWAN National 2007 – 2009
  • Face of MWAN during the Dar es Salam Tanzania MWIA NEAR Congress (made the presentation of the documentary for securing the secretariat for MWIA NEAR in Nigeria).
  • Chair; Medical Women International Association (MWIA) Youth Forum 2010 - 2013
  • President Elect; MWAN Rivers State 2013 - 2015
  • Member, Ethics and Resolutions Committee, Medical Women International Association 2013 - 2019:

Prof Ogu has served as: Staff Adviser, Port Harcourt University Medical Student’s Association (PUMSA) 2011 to date, External Examiner, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria 2015 to date. Accreditation Official, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria 2018 to date, National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria 2015 to date, and the West African College of Surgeons 2015 to date

She was a two tenure Director, Youth Friendly Centre, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria 2017 to 2020. She is the Secretary of the World Health Organisation/Federal Ministry of Health Maternal-Newborn-Child-Health Implementation Research Team for the reduction of Maternal & Perinatal Mortality in Nigeria 2013 to date. 

She is the principal investigator of the UPTH World Health Organisation Safe Childbirth Checklist Collaboration 2015 to date. She has numerous book chapters and over 60 published articles in peer reviewed journals.

Prof Ogu is a passionate Medical Woman. She loves giving health talks, reading, and travelling. She is married to Chief Hillary Ogu and they are blessed with children.
